Know before you go how they can affect your Club selection.
Black Hawks Volleyball Club will be hosting tryouts for ages 11’s thru 16’s. The legal tryout dates for these age groups puts them starting on 3 different weekends.
11’s thru 13’s begin on November 1
14’s and 15’s begin on November 8
16’s begin on November 15
Because of the way the legal tryout process works we will likely make most, if not all of our offers on the first day of tryouts. Our club will have only one team in each age group (with a roster of 10 players) so if you are made an offer in your age group you will not have to worry about which team it is for. You will be on the TOP TEAM. Each of our age groups first day of tryouts is on a Sunday. If you are planning to try out for other clubs on Saturday and are not offered the top team as you were hoping we strongly encourage you to hold off signing with another club until you have attended our first day of tryouts. Our teams consistently place high in the region, usually between the top 10-20 and this season we are targeting the top 10 in each age group.
We are very mindful of the stress that tryouts can inflict on families, especially the players. In the event that we do not sign all players in an age group on the first day of tryouts we will invite all remaining players back for the second day and will notify those that are among consideration for any remaining spots. Those not notified can then attend other tryouts. We do not want to hold anyone back from continuing their tryout process with other clubs if they are not going to receive an offer from Black Hawks VBC. At the same time we strongly urge anyone made an offer from our club to make that decision as soon as possible, preferably the same day, to allow another player the opportunity to take that position if you choose to take an offer with another club.
If you are unable to attend the times of our first day of tryouts and Black Hawks is where you want to try out please notify our Director well in advance for other arrangements.
With several new GREAT COACHES, NEW TRAINING EQUIPMENT, and INCREDIBLE CLUB ATMOSPHER we will be very strong in each age group this season. If you want to be part of this great season instead of taking a chance of being placed on a second, third, fourth, or lower team we highly encourage you to attend our first day of tryouts in your age group.
The tryout fee this season is $30 for returning club members (Those players that have played on one of our club teams previously) and $50 for non-members.
USA Junior Olympic Volleyball establishes legal age groups with the cut-off birthdates of September 1 of each year. Please review these age definitions to make sure you are trying out for the proper age group.
11U Born on or after Sept 1, 1998
12U Born on or after Sept 1, 1997
13U Born on or after Sept 1, 1996
14U Born on or after Sept 1, 1995
15U Born on or after Sept 1, 1994
16U Born on or after Sept 1, 1993
Remember that you must be Registered thru the North Texas Region prior to attending any tryouts. Registration opens September 1, 2009.and this is the first step in the process to participating in Club Volleyball. Please take care of this step as early as possible. Further down on this same web page there is a section labeled “Tryout Packet”. In this section are two links for online registration. The choices are New Member or Existing Member. You are an existing member if you have played a previous season and are in the database. With either option you will still have to complete the registration process and make an online payment for the registration. The registration fee is a separate fee to make you legal for participating in tryouts and is not part of any club’s
tryout fees.
CONTRACT SIGNING
Contract Signing: In order to complete the tryout process and play for the club of your choice you must sign a legal / binding contract that you will play for that club for the duration of the season.
