Many of you have asked about the score and ref clinics as you may not have been involved with these tasks previously.  When participating in club volleyball each team must provide score keepers, line judges, and down-refs for at least one match in pool play, sometimes more, and again on Sunday if a team loses in bracket play.  All of our team members are required to be certified in scorekeeping and 16’s are required to be certified in down-ref duties.  Assignments during tournaments will be allocated by a Team Mom or by the head coach to keep duties evenly distributed among the players

Our Club hosts our own Score and Ref Clinics to assure our club members do not have to make long drives to attend another club’s clinic.  Clinics are limited to 50 attendees.  During our first day of Score Clinics we will have our 15’s and 16’s ( 20 members ), 14 coaches, and 10 + Parent Chaperones which will bring us close to our maximum for the first clinic.  Following the Score Clinic we will host a Down-Ref clinic for all 16’s ( 10 players ), 14 coaches, and 10 Parent Chaperones.

Our second clinic will have 12’s, 13’s, and 14’s players, as well as those Coaches and Parent Chaperones that would like to attend a second clinic to get more comfortable with the  Scorekeeping procedures.  There will not be a Down-Ref Clinic on the second night.  For those who have not participated in these duties or have not been through the training it can be very intimidating.  Attending the second night will help to get you more comfortable with the procedures.

Clinics will be held at the Collin Creek Community Church Seminar Room. All players will be certified for scorekeeping and 16’s will be certified for down ref duties.

We will be arranging scrimmages as we can for all other teams.

For those who have not played club previously and would like to get a feel for the environment prior to our first tournaments in January there are a few tournaments in December and first weekend in January. I will email everyone a schedule of pool play so you can attend and watch the play of the teams you will be competing against.
